In Utah County, Utah, a serious accident occurred in Spanish Fork Canyon, where a driver reportedly caused a head-on collision, severely injuring another motorist and leading to a significant road closure. The incident, which took place around 5:40 p.m. on a Sunday, involved a Chevy Silverado veering into opposing traffic on U.S. 6 near Thistle, striking a Mazda directly.
The driver allegedly at fault, 23-year-old Kobe Jake Arceneaux from Abbeville, Louisiana, was subsequently detained and faces multiple charges, including severe injury due to negligent vehicle operation, obstruction of justice, driving under the influence (DUI), failing to maintain his lane, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Following the accident, an off-duty officer among the first responders assisted in extricating the critically injured Mazda driver, who was airlifted to a hospital. The driver’s latest medical status was not available the following day.
Witnesses allegedly reported seeing Kobe Arceneaux disposing of items over a concrete barrier into nearby bushes shortly after the crash. Arceneaux allegedly confessed to having consumed marijuana in New Mexico earlier that day. Authorities later found discarded marijuana near the site.
After receiving medical attention for minor injuries, Arceneaux was allegedly taken into custody for a DUI investigation. The road closure due to the accident caused extensive traffic delays, stretching up to five miles in both directions near Red Narrows that evening.
